Welcome To Racing For Life. We are a group of offroad
enthusiasts who are dedicating 2006 to raising awareness and
charitable donations for the Scleroderma Foundation and the
Lance Armstrong Foundation. The year is highlighted by the
RFL team competing in the SCORE Baja 1000, traveling the
entire length of the Baja Peninsula in November.

Over $5,000 raised for the two charities!
On October 4, 2005, Julia Lynn Filanc passed away from
scleroderma and lung cancer at the age of 50. Her brother, Jim,
is the team captain for the Racing For Life Offroad Team. Julie's
wishes included that donations be made to the Scleroderma
Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Jim has
dedicated 2006 to raising awareness for these two worthy
charities in her name and encouraging everyone to give often.
"Our race team wants to dedicate this year to her and the
thousands of other people affected by these diseases. So with
this tour and at every race we take part in this season we want to
teach people about these diseases and raise money to fund
research and outreach programs."

Lake Elsinore, California. After two days of fun in the sun, X-games style jumping by
world class Metal Mulisha riders, great food and the position drawing, the beautifully
restored Husqvarna 250 found a new home. At half time of the Pit Crew Challenge event,
the drawing was held with Rick L. Johnson the winner. As it turned out, he was standing
only a few feet from the announcement stand, making an anti-climactic end to a year-long
effort of ticket sales across the U.S. The winner could have come from New York, or
Florida, or Alaska. But to everyone's relief, at least those present at the drawing,
Rick bought his ticket earlier in the day. Sal Fish, President of SCORE International, drew
the winning ticket in front of hundreds of spectators.
Check out the pool party action for more pictures and details of the drawing!
PLEDGE DRIVE UNDERWAY
In an effort to increase the money raised this year for the Scleroderma Foundation and
the Lance Armstrong Foundation, RFL has started a pledge drive. Pledge donations are
being accepted on behalf of the two charities and based on your direct support of the
team competing in this year's Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. You can pledge one penny a mile, a nickel, a dime, or whatever you feel you can
donate. The Pledge Process is designed to allow everyone to participate in fundraising while cheering the RFL team on to victory!
The first pledge event was held on Wednesday, October 11, at the Grand Hyatt in Indian Wells. As an invited guest, Jim Filanc, RFL team
captain, made a presentation to the Executive Board of the Association of General Contractors at their annual retreat. Pledge forms were
handed to more than 30 organizations, with written pledges collected totalling nearly $3,000.
Please visit our "DONATE" page to download the pledge form.
NEW GRAPHICS COMING
The Julia Lynn is now in the shop being readied for the big race. Temecula Motorsports has generously agreed to provide the custom
graphics for the bike, with a checker flag theme based on the official team jersey. Additional sponsor logos are being obtained to recognize
our backers. A special edition of the RFL website will be dedicated to the preparation of the Julia Lynn once the graphics are applied. It
should look pretty awesome!
