The Legends Rally is an invitation-only charity fundraiser for the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame. Invited guests will have the opportunity to ride along with industry legends and fellow hall of fame inductees like Walker Evans, Rod Hall, Larry Roeseler and Ivan Stewart. Many of the members of the hall of fame have signed up to attend as our special guests. We will be celebrating their contribution to our sport, while having an amazing day together. Stay tuned to this website as we announce additional hall of famers who plan to attend! Space is Limited Invitations will be sent to prominent members and leaders of the off road community. There will be a limit of just 200 guests at this exclusive event! We consider our list of invitees to be the best of the best in the off road industry. We would be so pleased if you would share in this inaugural event. A Fundraiser?
Yes, this is the first ever non-induction ceremony fundraiser for ORMHOF. We are raising money to start building a virtual museum where we will not only be immortalizing the hall of famers, but creating a unique and special internet destination that will be a focal point of industry announcements, race event calendars and information about legislative issues facing our industry. ORMHOF has come a long way in the past ten years through the careful leadership of Chairman Rod Hall. Rod, along with his Board of Directors has resolved to expand and improve ORMHOF to help raise exposure for the sport. The Rally
This is a non-race pleasure ride for all participants. We have designed three beautiful loops for guests to choose from: Ride along with the Legends to the top of nearby Thomas Mountain with 100 mile views of Southern California. Or ride along into the upper edge of the Anza Borrego State Park to Bailey’s Cabin. For the adventurous, challenge yourself to dual sport ride specially designed for the two wheel crowd up to picturesque Idyllwild nestled in the shadows of Mt. San Jacinto. A GPS map will be available for those who wish to ride at their own pace.
The party is all day at the Buttes and Saddles Ranch. We will be providing catered food and drink all day long, with special events scheduled throughout the day. There is a fishing lake, hiking trails, a closed one mile loop to warm up your bike. We will have a meet-and-greet session when everyone will have a chance to meet with the Hall of Famers and get souvenirs autographed. Happy Hour will start around 5 PM, with a catered prime rib dinner served at 7 PM. The evening will feature live music by the sensational local band, Xactabox, who recently opened for the 70’s rocker Pat Travers Band while on his nationwide tour.
Limited camping / RV parking is available on a first-come-first serve basis for an additional fee. The camping package also includes all meals. Lodging is available in these nearby communities:
Idyllwild, CA. Bed and Breakfast Inns about 30 minute drive. Quick Link Palm Desert, CA. Hotels and motels about 45 minute drive. Quick Link Temecula, CA. Hotels and motels about 40 minute drive. Quick Link Special Announcements
During the dinner hour Rod and the board will be making special announcements. In addition, we will pay a special tribute to the fallen hall of famers and industry celebrities who are no longer with us. This moment will be a must-see occasion!
In 1966, Ed Pearlman cofounded the first exclusively off-road racing organization, called the National Off-Road Racing Association (NORRA). The first event by NORRA (1967) was called the Mexican 1000 Rally, which was later renamed the Baja 1000. Pearlman stopped promoting the series in 1976, so he decided to recognize contributors to the sport. He inducted the first sixteen members in the hall of fame in January 1978. He inducted a second group in 1980. He was unable to come up with a site to host the hall of fame.
Pearlman sold the series in 1995 to Rod Hall. While looking through Pearlman’s boxes, Hall noticed Pearlman’s notes about the hall of fame. Hall talked with Gordon Horsley of the National Automobile Museum, and the Hall of Fame became a resident in the National Automobile Museum.
Today, ORMHOF has continued to thrive and serve as the body recognizing those special people who have made lasting and significant contributions the off road motorsport sport community, making our lives a bit richer. Each year ORMHOF receives nominations throughout industry, and through careful and deliberative process, selects up to five inductees each hear in five different categories.
