This 1296 mile race turned into a race for the ages.
Considered by men like Rod Hall as one of the most
grueling in the history of this storied race, silt was
everywhere, broken vehicles littering the course. Jim
Filanc got on the Julia Lynn II 12 hours after the
planned switch time due to faulty eletrics and
carburetion. But the bike made it. In fact she was the
only Husqvarna to finish the race. Thank you Jerry
Jones and Dave Simon.
SPOTLIGHT -- Dick Hansen and John Barnes rode
with the RFL team! Dick and John finished right
behind Malcolm and JN 40 years ago. Check them out
