Gretchen Wilson and Lynyrd Skynyrd took to the WOlfman Jack Stage today. With full moon rising over the stage, the evening weather was perfect . . . almost. The rain did not start until after Skynyrd, almost like Camelot. Gretchen was her usual brilliant self, with fireworks galore blasting off on cue. Almost too slick, but still a lot of fun. As expected she finished off with "Red Neck Woman" to the delight of the crowd. A little tamer than yesterday, the audience was another 20% bigger than Monday, stretching to the back of the amphitheater. Lynyrd Skynyrd played all their famous tunes, finishing off with Sweet Home Alabama, with the Alabama stage flag draped across the stage. The crowd would not let them leave without an encore. After about three minutes they took song requests. Naturally, Free Bird was on their's`and the fans mind. Launching into a 10 minute marathon, they brought the house down to a classic rendition, delivered with punch and energy. All in all, a great night! |
