On October 4, 2005, Julia Lynn Filanc passed away from
scleroderma and lung cancer at the age of 50.  Her brother, Jim,
is the team captain for the Racing For Life Offroad Team.  Julie's
wishes included that donations be made to the
Scleroderma
Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.  Jim has
dedicated 2006 to raising awareness for these two worthy
charities in her name and encouraging everyone to give often.

"Our race team wants to dedicate this year to her and the
thousands of other people affected by these diseases.  So with
this tour and at every race we take part in this season we want to
teach people about these diseases and raise money to fund
research and outreach programs."

RACING FOR LIFE DAILY UPDATE

We're past the half way point of the world's biggest party.  And indeed it has been.  Non-stop from 9 AM to 2 PM for nine straight
days.  Wow!.  Well, we've made it this far.

A special thing occurred today.  As I was walking around, I discovered you could place an inscripted stone in front of what I call
"The Biker Chick."  Check out the photo at left.  You can see teh growing collection of stones being set below.  Well, we ordered a
pstone placque with Julia Lynn Filanc and Susie M Avila etched in, along with the Racing For Life logo.  When the stone is set next
spring, it will be a permanent memorial of these two great ladies whom we have paid tribute to all season long.  Stay tuned for a
future edition of the RFL website for a ceremony and keeping track of production of the monument during the winter.

The Daily FAN VIP Raffle

Tonight is the FAN VIP Raffle for a pair of backstage passes to the Buck Cherry
\and Alice In Chains concerts.  The drawing will be held at the Miller Lite Buffalo Chip
Stage in the amphitheater at 7:45.  Last night's winner, who escaped before we could
get his name, was escorted directly to the Fan VIP lounge just before The Nuge went on.
See ya there.

STURGIS, 2006

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is one of, if not ‘the’ largest gatherings of motorcycle enthusiasts in the world. The Rally occurs every
August in the Black Hills of South Dakota, home to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse National Memorial and Devil’s Tower Monument
to name a few of the area’s most recognized ‘icons’. The 2006 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, August 7th – 13th, celebrates the 66th
year of the event that has become known to motorcycle enthusiasts throughout the world as the “Granddaddy of ‘em all”.
